Lead Superintendent

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Superintendent to oversee field operations for commercial construction projects in the Fort Lauderdale area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare, K–12 education, or similar institutional construction, with proven experience managing complex projects from groundbreaking through completion.
This individual will be responsible for leading on-site construction teams, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring work is completed to the highest standards of quality. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to coordinate multiple trades and keep projects moving efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all on-site construction activities from project startup through final completion.
- Manage daily field operations, subcontractors, and trade partners to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications.
- Develop and maintain construction schedules, coordinate trade sequencing, and proactively address potential delays.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, architects, engineers, inspectors, and owners to ensure successful project execution.
- Maintain strict adherence to OSHA requirements, company safety policies, building codes, and quality control standards.
- Coordinate inspections, permitting requirements, and project documentation.
- Monitor jobsite productivity and resolve field conflicts, constructability issues, and unforeseen challenges.
- Lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings and communicate progress, milestones, and potential risks to the project team.
- Ensure proper site logistics, material deliveries, equipment coordination, and overall jobsite organization.
- Oversee punch lists, inspections, commissioning, and closeout activities to ensure timely project turnover.
- Maintain a professional and collaborative working relationship with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in commercial construction, including significant experience in a Superintendent or Lead Superintendent role.
- Proven experience with healthcare, K–12 education, or similar institutional construction projects.
- Experience overseeing complex projects involving multiple subcontractors, trades, and project stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of construction schedules, sequencing, project drawings, specifications, and building codes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead field teams, manage subcontractor performance, and maintain project timelines.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and quality control procedures.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, plans, and specifications.
- Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore is preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Ground-up construction, renovations, additions, and occupied-building renovations.
- Healthcare facilities, medical offices, hospitals, clinics, and other specialized environments.
- K–12 schools, educational facilities, and campus expansions.
- Experience coordinating work in active or occupied facilities where safety, scheduling, and minimizing disruption are critical.
- Familiarity with South Florida construction practices, inspections, and local building codes.
